HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! The start of new year should be all about reflecting on the past year and asking yourself what you could improve. New year new me, right? This year is all about you and finding new ways to be the best person you can be for yourself.
Something that has been weighing on my mind over the past year is the importance of connections and communication with the people around me. I realized through the past decade that I cannot get through this obstacle challenge called life alone, especially when I am in the dark.
If someone asked you to find your way through a maze, it may take you some time, but you would eventually come out the other end. Then, add the fact that you are blindfolded. The task at hand just became seemingly impossible. Now imagine that the maze is life and the blindfold is your internal darkness, anxieties, insecurities, worries eating away at you and blocking your whole perspective of life. Getting through the maze, or life, not only just became more difficult but even scarier. What could make this situation better? A solution that I thought of is having someone walk with you through the maze and help you determine where you should go next. That is what we all need in our lives. We need that person that can help us through the dark times. Once you have someone on your side, the task of life seems a little less daunting and unbearable.
Now this person is not just going to pop up out of nowhere anytime you are struggling. You need to communicate and ask for the help you need. Maybe what you need is guidance or advice, or maybe you just need someone to listen to you or distract you. Let them know what it is that you need from them in that situation.
In order for this to work, you must want help. You could possibly get through the maze blindfolded, but you don’t know how long the maze is and how long it will take you to get out of it. You may even go the complete wrong direction and get even more lost. There has to be a point where you accept the fact that it is too hard for anyone to get through life alone. That is why there are other people on the earth. We are mammals, we flock together. You are not weak. You are human.
I hope you all have a great year!
